On-campus functions for students (dances, concerts, festivals, intramural sports, homecoming, etc.) are managed by the Office of Student Activities. The Director of Student Activities serves as the advisor for the Student Government Association.

Student Organizations

All official extra-curricular organizations, activities, and enterprises of students on the UMES campus operate under the broad guidance of the Director of Student Activities. Student organizations housed within the Department of Human Ecology include the Human Ecology Club, the Student Dietetic Association, and Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society. Student Government Association (SGA) – Ext. 6442

Made up of elected student officers and advised by the Student Activities Office, the SGA is the official student governing body of the campus. SGA promotes the interests and welfare of the university community and encourages student participation in the solution of student problems, as
well as cooperates with the faculty in the regulation and promotion of student activities. The student newspaper, The Hawk's Message, and the UMES Yearbook, generated through student fees, are sponsored by the SGA.

The Pan-Hellenic Council

Made up of representatives of the National Greek Letter Organizations at UMES. The council makes recommendations to the administrative bodies of the UMES campus regarding the activities of the National Greek Letter Organizations on the campus. One of its chief functions is to stimulate and guide each individual Greek Letter Organization so that the best interest of the university community is served.
Any sorority or fraternity that engages in an activity, incidental to the pledging process, that causes harm to the student will be suspended. For a current listing of active Greek organizations on campus, consult the Student Government Association.
