Welcome to the Dual Degree Program in Sociology and Social Work at
the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Salisbury University. The Dual
Degree Program in Sociology and Social Work began in 1990. This unique
program allows majors to receive two degrees from two universities in four
years or 120 academic credit hours. Majors receive a Bachelors of Arts
degree in Sociology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) and a
Bachelors of Arts in Social Work degree from Salisbury University (SU). It is
accredited by the Council on Social Work Education through Salisbury
University's Social Work Program.

Social work is a profession devoted to helping people develop their highest capacities. Social workers care about people and help
them make a real difference in their lives. They do this by providing
services to individuals, families and groups, and neighborhoods. Social
workers practice in public social service agencies, businesses, hospitals,
clinics, schools, nursing homes, private practices, criminal justice
settings, and the workplace.

We hope that you will be able to find the information that you need
