Network P: Drive

The network P: drive allows drag and drop file access, as well as direct saving of files with Windows applications. If you are logging into the campus network with a Windows NT/2000 machine, your P: drive should appear automatically.

Using Windows 95/98/ME or another operating system besides NT/2000?

If you're using an operating system besides Windows NT/2000, chances are you're P: drive will not be automatically mapped.

To map a drive letter to a network computer or folder in Windows 95/98/ME:

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Map Network Drive.
  3. In Drive, select the drive letter to map to the shared resource (P: is Recommended).
  4. In Folder, type the server and share name of the resource, in the form of \\umesdisted\root\facstaff. Or click Browse to locate the resource.

Using NT/2000 but don't have a P: drive?

If you are logging into the UMES domain with an NT/2000 machine, but you don't have a P: Drive, contact the webmaster.
